Lucy is Logo Lucky
A CONNEXIONS Somerset client who attended Skills Somerset as part of a project she is taking part in got a pleasant surprise when she walked away as prize winner of one of the events most popular competitions.
Lucy Hooker, aged 18, who is from Shepton Mallet attended the event at the Bath and West showground with her Connexions learning development tutor Simon Lawrence.
Lucy is taking part in C- Further- a project aimed at helping young people aged 16-18-years-old who are not in education, employment or training to gain the relevant qualifications, experience and knowledge they need to progress to college, work or training.
She entered the Chartered Institute of Marketing logo competition which tested her knowledge of brand logos.
Richard Storey, South West regional board member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, said:” To make our stand more interactive at the Skills Somerset careers fair we challenged visitors to identify as many brands as possible from a list of 40.
“While most young people got the popular brands like Levis, and Nike, Lucy identified 39 brands and as winner was presented with an iPod and a certificate.”
The CIM’s advisory stand attracted at least 500 students and 250 entries were recorded for the interactive ‘name the brand’ competition.
More than 3,500 young people from across Somerset attended Skills Somerset which was once again a successful event.
Mr Storey added: “We had about 250 competition entries but Lucy was the only one to get 39 of 40 logos correct.
“We are delighted for her and for the fact that so many students took part in the challenge.”
