Sorted 4 September

Sorted 4 September is a campaign where we help you get into education, employment and training.
Did you know?
If you are leaving school now or left school last year, you are guaranteed an offer of education, employment or training?
Sorted 4 September can help you by providing information, advice and guidance to help you weigh up the available options.
Sorted 4 September hits the streets!
Thankfully the rain held off (for most of us) for the first of the Sorted for September Saturday openings on Saturday June 21st!
The day proved a great success as we made contact with young people that are often hard to reach.

Sorted 4 September winner!
Taunton teenager Steph Broom is celebrating after winning a competition aimed at helping young people still not sure what they want to do when they leave school this summer.
The “Guess the Celebrity CV” competition - organised by Connexions Somerset is part of Connexions “Sorted 4 September” campaign- an initiative aimed at reducing the number of young people in the county not in any kind of education, employment or training.
Connexions is also trying to make its service more accessible to teenagers and their parents by introducing Saturday working and evening openings.
Speaking about her win Steph, aged 19 said: “I think the Saturday working is a really good idea.
“I just happened to be in town one Saturday afternoon when I saw the Connexions stand so I went over to see what it was all about and ended up chatting to a personal adviser.
“I didn’t think much more about entering the competition until I got a call from Connexions to say I had been drawn as one of the winners and won a £50 voucher for a High Street store of my choice. I was thrilled! “
Somerset already has one of the best records nationally for tackling youth unemployment and Connexions hope the “Sorted 4 September” campaign will help to reduce this figure further.
Ann Phillips, Contracts Manager with Connexions Somerset said : “We have an enviable record in tackling youth unemployment in Somerset and we want to keep it that way.
“Young people who are still undecided about their next move post-school are also being encouraged to call into the Connexions centres in Bridgwater, Frome, Minehead, Taunton, Wells and Yeovil.
“It is not unusual for young people still to be unsure about what to do in September and our personal advisers have years of experience in offering advice on the wide range of options that are out there.”
Ann Phillips added: “It is not always possible for young people and their parents to get to our centres during normal opening hours.
“We hope that the extended opening hours will give those who may find it difficult to come and see us during normal opening hours the opportunity to come and speak to a personal adviser if they need to.”
